Boise State University made a name for itself after winning the 2006 Fiesta Bowl. This football game had fans on the edge of their seats and it has been said to be the greatest bowl finish ever. The Broncos tied the game with seven seconds to go and ended up winning the Fiesta Bowl in overtime against Oklahoma. If you like collegiate sports, Boise State is the place to catch most of the action. Besides a national championship football team, they also have a nationally recognized basketball team.
The Idaho Steelheads Hockey Team made fans stand up and cheer when they won the national championship in 2007 and took home the ultimate trophy, the Kelly Cup. The Steelheads are affiliates of the NHL Dallas Stars and the AHL Iowa Stars.
You may be cheering for a future Chicago Cubs baseball player when you watch a Boise Hawks baseball game. They are the farm team of the Chicago Cubs and the Hawks have an 11th division title under their belt.
If you want to be close to all the action, where you can hear the clashing of helmets, you can catch a Boise Burn arena football game at Qwest Arena.

Basketball fans will enjoy the excitement of the game watching the Idaho Stampede. They recently joined the NBA Development League. The team's NBA affiliates are the Seattle Supersonics and the Utah Jazz.
Take in the sights and sounds of drag racing and stock car racing at Meridian Speedway and the Firebird Raceway.
If you want to show your competitive side, there are countless recreational activities for you to enjoy. The parks and recreation department offers individual and team sports including basketball, football, softball and volleyball. The Foothills offer numerous trails for hiking and mountain biking.
Less than an hour away you can find some incredible skiing and snowboarding conditions. The Rockies provide steep slopes and challenging terrain for those who are experts or just adventurous. Not an expert? No problem. There are plenty of beginner slopes to get you started. The slopes here are more about having fun and enjoying the snow on the ever-changing terrain of the mountains. Bogus Basin Ski Resort is just 45 minutes from Boise and also offers night skiing.
Hunters and fishermen will be glad to know that Boise has more natural wilderness areas than any of the lower 48 states! Idaho is famous for its rivers for kayaking, whitewater rafting and fishing. If you're ready to hunt some wildlife, this is the place to do it.
As you can see, there is something that appeals to everybody in or near Boise, Idaho. Whether it is relaxing or getting an adrenaline rush, you can get it all right here.
